- Branislav Jansik: The LUMI-Q VLQ (2.)
The Institute of Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences is pleased to host again Dr. Branislav Jansík from IT4Innovations National Supercomputing Center, Czech Republic. This event is a continuation of his last year talk and offers a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights into how quantum technologies are being integrated into Europe’s computational landscape and to engage in discussions about the future of hybrid quantum-classical computing. The talk is open to everyone – from experts to students eager to explore the expanding world of quantum computing and high-performance systems.
The LUMI-Q VLQ: Integrating HPC and VLQ quantum computer, access, operational experience and first applications
The talk will present the LUMI-Q consortium VLQ quantum computer access and HPC integration via the Quantum-as-a-Service through HEAppE Middleware (QHEAppE) architecture, including access mechanism and prevailing research topics. We will also share operational experience accumulated over the last year as well as first quantum algorithm applications on the physical hardware.
Branislav Jansík, PhD.
Branislav Jansík his PhD in computational chemistry at KTH, Sweden in 2004. He took postdoctoral position at IPCF, Italy, focusing on high performance computational methods for molecular optical properties. Since 2006 he worked on highly parallel optimization methods in electronic structure theory at Aarhus University, Denmark. In 2012 he joined IT4Innovations Supercomputing Center as a head of services. In 2018 appointed as Member of the EuroHPC Infrastructure Advisory Group, re-appointed in 2022. Coordinator of the EuroHPC Karolina supercomputer hosting and LUMI-Q VLQ quantum computer deployment efforts. Has published over 50 papers, inspired the HyperQueue scheduler and co-authored the DALTON electronic structure theory code, Scopus registered h-index 27.
AboutPrevious colloqium

colloQUTE Hosted a Lecture on the LUMI-Q VLQ and European Quantum Infrastructure
A colloQUTE lecture by Branislav Jansík presented the LUMI-Q VLQ and its role in Europe’s hybrid quantum–HPC ecosystem, outlining practical access opportunities and sparking an active discussion among a diverse audience of researchers, students, and technology professionals.
The project skQCI is funded by the European Union from the Digital Europe Programme and the NextGenerationEU Programme from the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic.
