Slovakia Joins the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure

The skQCI Inauguration & Final Project Presentation marks the successful completion of the Slovak Quantum Communication Infrastructure (skQCI) project and the official inauguration of Slovakia’s quantum communication infrastructure based on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD).

The event will highlight the project’s achievements, demonstrate operational use cases connecting strategic national institutions, and discuss the future of secure quantum communications within the framework of the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI).

The programme will bring together representatives of the European Commission, EuroQCI national initiatives, public institutions, academia, industry, and international partners working on the future of secure communication technologies in Europe.

About the skQCI Project

The Slovak Quantum Communication Infrastructure (skQCI) project is Slovakia’s contribution to the European EuroQCI initiative, which aims to establish a secure quantum communication infrastructure across the European Union. Since 2023, the project has been developing a national quantum network based on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD)technology, creating the foundations for secure communication services and future cross-border quantum connectivity.

More information about EuroQC as part of European Digital Strategy: https://digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/european-quantum-communication-infrastructure-euroqci

The project skQCI is funded by the EU Programme DIGITAL and Programme NextGenerationEU from Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic.
