CEQCI
Central Europe Quantum Communication Infrastructure
Project includes:
- Establishing a quantum key distribution (QKD) network connecting Austria, Hungary, Romania, and Slovakia across 11 locations
- Integrating terrestrial fibre networks with satellite-based quantum communication via the European Eagle-1 quantum satellite
- Developing software for secure key management and Software-Defined Networking (SDN)
- Testing and validating the network to ensure scalability, interoperability, and secure communication
Project CEQCI aims to establish a quantum-secure communication network in Central Europe, contributing to the wider pan-European EuroQCI initiative.
Funding: European Union, CEF Digital
Project duration: 01/01/2026 – 30/06/2029
skQCI
Slovak Quantum Communication Infrastructure
Project includes:
Deployment of national experimental quantum communication infrastructure
Designing a prototype of a superconducting single photon detector and cryogenic system
Establishing a quantum technology training center for students and postdocs
Project skQCI is part of the EuroQCI – a secure quantum communication infrastructure spanning the whole EU.
Funding: European Union, DEP
Project duration: 01/01/2023 – 01/06/2026
