The NSA and the National Centre for Quantum Technologies Join Forces in Developing Quantum Communication Infrastructure in Slovakia
The National Security Authority (NBÚ) has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the National Center for Quantum Technologies – QUTE.sk, aimed at developing quantum communication infrastructure within the territory of the Slovak Republic. This represents a strategic step toward strengthening the state’s cybersecurity and preparedness for emerging technological challenges.
“Developing quantum communication infrastructure in Slovakia is a necessary prerequisite for ensuring the country’s competitiveness and security. Building quantum communication infrastructure is fundamentally a matter of cybersecurity and the long-term protection of sensitive digital data. That is why we consider the signing of this memorandum truly beneficial,” said Roman Konečný, Director of the National Security Authority.
“The signing of this memorandum formalises the already strong cooperation between the National Center for Quantum Technologies and the NSA in the field of quantum and post-quantum security protocols. We regard the National Security Authority as a key partner in building a trustworthy and secure quantum communication infrastructure in Slovakia,” stated Mario Ziman, Chair of the Executive Committee of QUTE.sk.
The memorandum defines cooperation in the development of quantum communication technologies, the construction and operation of a quantum communication network in Slovakia, the exchange of expertise and professional knowledge, as well as the organisation of joint activities to raise public awareness on this topic. The cooperation also includes support for research and innovation in quantum technologies, which will have a significant impact on security, industry, and digital services in the coming years.
Through this partnership, the NBÚ and the National Centre for Quantum Technologies are contributing to strengthening Slovakia’s position within European technological initiatives.
